I hate to keep mentioning the Marquis de Sade, but I'm afraid Trump and his partners-in-crime are truly channeling the vilest "libertines" in that writer's literary output. This wanton destruction parallels the scene in which one of the monsters in Sade's JULIETTE learns that the peasants are facing severe food shortages. He replies, "Wonderful. I hope we can reduce them to cannibalism."
Such cruelty by the Trumpistas brings many of Sade's notions to mind. How can people be that cruel unless they derive pleasure (libidinous or otherwise) from their deeds?
