The oppression of the Palestinians didn’t start on October 7th, but in 1948. Adelita didn’t have to vote for a resolution that she didn’t support. Hernandez is worse. But there are two other good candidates to vote for: Foxx and Malvido, who are both better on this issue, but Malvido at least raised it (twice) during their first debate. Thanks to Three Sonorans for this coverage!

This is totally misleading and irresponsible. Where are the receipts saying she’s taken APAIC Money for this campaign? The answer is that there are none, because she hasn’t taken any. This video was from ages ago, before any of us could have imagined the horrors we’ve seen in Palestine.

Adelita Grijalva is committed to a cease-fire, a two-state solution, and humanitarian aid. She supports Palestinians and Israeli citizens protesting against Netanyahu.

Even with any other name, she would still be the most qualified and experienced candidate for CD-7, period.

I would love to see her press releases or video condemning Israel.

FWIW, Israel has been terrible to Palestine for 75 years now... those horrors were already reality in Gaza back then.

Fair -but Palestine is leveled now, and it's a Genocide at this point.

Here is her take on the campaign website:

"People-Centered foreign policy

Our foreign policy should reflect our deepest values - democracy, human rights, and international cooperation. We must stop endless wars, reinvest in alliances that promote peace and democracy, and prioritize diplomacy over military intervention.

Addressing global drivers of conflict like climate change and poverty must be front and center. We urgently need to restore foreign aid programs that President Trump gutted. Access to hundreds of lifesaving programs has been cut off worldwide, fueling hunger, poverty, and preventable deaths. Restoring these programs is a moral imperative and it creates stability in volatile regions, reducing the chances of future conflicts.

Our policy approach with regard to current conflicts must be rooted in diplomacy. We need to work through international bodies and regional partners to bring an end to the violence in the Middle East and to the war in Ukraine. A just and lasting peace for Israelis and Palestinians depends on an immediate release of the remaining hostages in Hamas captivity, rapid and complete restoration of humanitarian aid into the Gaza strip, and setting the foundation for a two-state solution that recognizes the equal rights of Israelis and Palestinians to live peacefully and with opportunity.

Congress must also hold Trump accountable for his unilateral, unconstitutional strikes on Iran. We must prevent the U.S. from getting entangled in another endless conflict in the Middle East, while ensuring that Iran is not able to obtain a nuclear weapon, which would further destabilize the region."

I see no condemnation by Adelita Grijalva of Israel for a genocide that even the International Courts and Amnesty International have called a genocide. Actually, I don't see anything about Israel changing anything above, but more demands on the Palestinians despite being victims of a GENOCIDE.

Exactly. She will most likely just be another status quo career senator with family ties, name recognition and corporate donations/lobby dollars at her disposal.

More recently, Adelita Grijalva voted for Steve Christy’s resolution on the Board of Supervisors, “in support of standing with Israel as it defends itself against the barbaric war…”

You left out the part where she proposed adding humanitarian aid and she owned where they could have said more. This was also a time when yes - there were devastating losses for women and children - but also within the first few weeks of the initial conflict. I hear you, but believe that context is important.

"When Chair Grijalva attempted to add language to support the civilians and humanitarian aid, Christy and District 3 Supervisor Sharon Bronson said “they respectfully decline” the additions."

“I wish we would have had a little bit more coordination in trying to incorporate what we know is the right thing to do on that one,” she said.

A video showing Adelita giving a speech professing her love for Israel is misleading? Gtfoh! Stop eating up g unit propaganda and realize Adelita won't do a damn thing to stop Israel. You can't advocate for children and families here and let children and families in Gaza be destroyed by the Israeli genocide abroad with weapons made here in Tucson.

The headline of this article states, "Bought and Paid For." That part is untrue and misleading. Also, criticism for living next to Raytheon is ridiculous. Being labeled a "Genocide spokesperson" is also dumb when her most famous supporters (AOC, Bernie Sanders, and Mark Kelly) all condemn Israel's actions. That's my specific reaction to the article they published.

Someone told me the video she appeared in was from 15 years ago. Which kinda matters. Not that im defending her and I doubt she has stopped taking aipac money, but… it’s a big omission to not mention when this happened in your post, david.

Neither have i. But that’s not the point. You’re professing to do journalism here and so you need to do your research and if you can’t prove something you need to admit that.

Perhaps I am sloppy. I'm not a journalist by training. But I did provide a video of Adelita that involved her trip to Israel that AIPAC paid for and the fact that she voted with Steve Christy's resolution in support of Israel. Her current statements on the Middle East make demands only from Gaza and nothing from Israel, no condemnation, no "hey, stop this genocide!" Actually, I haven't heard her use the G-word once.

I provided the facts I have. Do with them what you will. You probably won't read about them in the mainstream news, especially as they are bombarded with Adelita ads on their sites.

If you can show me a "good" news article talking about Adelita's AIPAC video and vote for Israel, please share it with me so I can learn.

Just to get this straight... your evidence the Adelita is "Bought and Paid For" by AIPAC is that she was in a promotional video for the Tucson Chamber of Commerce talking about Israel almost FIFTEEN years ago? the claims you make in this article that she is supporting the genocide--due to a fifteen year old video--is borderline slanderous.

I wish every candidate would make stronger public statements condemning the genocide and calling for an end to all U.S. aid to Israel... but by no means is Adelita a pro-Israel candidate.

She needs to demand we stop a majority of our funding to Israel and most importantly seek towards a one state with equal rights for all.

I’m getting tired of putting up with Liberal Zionists who "stand for equal rights" but ignore decades of apartheid and land theft for Palestinians. In my lifetime we will see the Zionist project be dismantled and justice for my brothers and sisters in Gaza.
