Difficult, for sure. The word that keeps spinning through my brain these days is dilemma. I thought I knew so much when I was younger; things appeared to be more black and white. Now, with the world shaded in gray, all I can say is the older I get the less I know…

How do you fight fascism when they call being anti-fascist a terrorist group, and if you resort to the courts or police or... well, who helps you in the end? First they came for...

Do we only have freedom of speech if it’s “calm and collected”? Seems like Conover is telling us to obey in advance by not protesting and “filming from a distance”. This will not work. This is a fascist regime. Ask Europe.

One of the weapons used against our community during the MAS ban in TUSD was the "civility institute" that was created by Democrats, telling us minorities how to protest against the people wearing ties and destroying our community in a calm and collected way. Students took over the school board dais, and they chastised us. The MAS classes remain gone to this day...

Really compelling piece on the tension between institutional caution and grassroots resistance. Conover's admission that she tried to cooridnate pressure through the police chief feels like exactly the kind of soft censorship that creeps into crisis moments. I've seen this happen locally where officials frame safety concerns to silence dissent, but it often just shifts teh debate away from accountability. The whole "calm and collected" framework is kinda telling because it assumes protesters are the variable that needs adjustment, not the federal agents operating with impunity.

It has a very Trumpian/CBS feel to it...
