Join the Movimiento: Support Independent Media for Social Justice
Dear Reader,
With great pride and a sense of accomplishment, we announce that the Three Sonorans is entering its 15th year of publication and celebrating our 14th anniversary!
Since our inception in June 2010, amidst the heated debates surrounding SB1070 and HB2281 in Arizona, we have tirelessly worked to bring you the truth and shed light on the issues that matter most to our community.
Over the past 14 years, the Three Sonorans has published thousands of articles, earning recognition in books and other publications. Our videos have been used in documentaries, and our images have been shared to show the world what is happening. Our words warn the rest of the nation about the “Arizonafication” of the country.
We have fearlessly exposed corruption, holding politicians accountable for their actions. Our work has contributed to replacing at least three educational but corrupt leaders in TUSD, Sunnyside, and Pima Community College, ensuring that our educational institutions serve the best interests of our students.
During the TUSD's banning of Mexican American Studies, the Three Sonorans provided the most comprehensive coverage, from the TUSD boardroom to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Our articles were instrumental in winning the case, showcasing the power of independent journalism in the fight for justice.
We have also been the go-to source for comprehensive coverage of all major government meetings in Pima County, ensuring that our readers are informed about the decisions that affect their lives.
As we move forward, the Three Sonorans remains committed to social justice activism. We will continue to cover local Native American tribes when the local paper does not, expose environmental racism, and resist Tucson's involvement in unjust wars abroad. With the worsening climate crisis, we believe it is crucial to challenge false solutions such as the push for “green energy” in the form of foreign-owned copper mining at Resolution and Rosemont mines, which perpetuate settler colonialism and the extraction and exploitation of our resources that have persisted for over 500 years.
By subscribing to the Three Sonorans Substack today, you can be part of the movimiento, today's civil rights movement. Your support will enable us to continue our vital work, amplifying the voices of the marginalized and fighting for a more just and equitable society.
Join us in celebrating 14 years of fearless journalism and activism as we enter our 15th year of publication. Together, we can make a difference and create a better future for all.
Sincerely,
The Three Sonorans Team
